Ron Howard’s House Sells for $27.5 Million – Details Released – See Aerials And Inside

January 9, 2015 by Billionaire Addresses

Ron Howard first appeared on television back in the 1960’s playing Opie, the mischievous son of Andy Taylor, sheriff of Mayberry, in the long running program, “The Andy Griffith Show.” Now a director of Oscar-winning movies and the cult-favorite sitcom “Arrested Development,” Howard first listed his lakefront Greenwich, CT estate for $27.5 million back in May 2014.  The property actually sold within 2 weeks of the initial listing but details were never released. Until now.

It has finally been reported that the estate was sold to the 70-year-old billionaire Jim Clark, who made his fortune co-founding the 1990s Web browser Netscape, and his (fourth) wife, Kristy Hinze, a 35-year-old Australian Victoria’s Secret model and their two young children.

Howard and his wife, Cheryl, raised their family for over 20 years on the country estate in the Conyers Farm area of Greenwich, which borders Armonk, NY on Converse Lake.

This was always Howard’s ‘dream house’ he has said in the past. In a news release at the time the house was listed, Howard was quoted reminiscing about the property: “Whether we’re watching films in our theater, walking the trails throughout our property, star gazing in our observatory, or just relaxing with friends and loved ones by the lake, Cheryl and I feel we’ve accomplished the goals we set when we began work on this place. “Our children are grown, so it’s time to move on, but the memories of this very special place will never leave us.”  Howard and his wife of now nearly 40 years, were high school sweethearts.

The 17,000 square foot shingle-style home, an hour from New York City, has sweeping views of Converse Lake. It features 6 bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a two-story library and office, a 14-seat movie theater, an indoor pool, a gym and a yoga  studio. The estate includes a two-bedroom guest cottage, an indoor tennis and basketball complex, an observatory silo equipped with a professional-grade Meade telescope, barns, paddocks, a pond and waterfall, greenhouses and formal gardens.

Now the former property of Ron Howard, the new billionaire address is a 32 acre ‘working farm’ property, and is in the exclusive gated community of Conyers Farm, which straddles Armonk in wealthy Westchester County, New York, and Greenwich, Connecticut. They built the home after buying the land in 1991.  We wish them well in the next chapter of their lives.
